1986 Gt Pro Performer Serial Numbers

Can anyone tell me about the build quality of the GT Performer/Pro Performer series. 1986 replica based on a GT Performer. From its serial number. Mid 80's GT Frame Question. This is supposed to be an 86 Performer. Serial number DS6092XXXX. Welcome to BMX Society community forums.

Hoffman Condor - Chrome (1993) 17. Hoffman Condor - Black (1995) 18. Standard STA500 - Red (now white) (1999) 19. Haro Nyquist 24' - Raw (2003?) 20. '84 GT Pro Performer - White (replica of my first freestyler) (2006) 21.

Built bike up and finished it. Still own it.

This 1985 gt pro performer is stamped on the rear dropout and stamped fs. As seen in pics. The yellow powder looks nice the decals are very nice. This is an old frame and it is not perfect it is used and has some signs of use. The frame has a tiny pinhole by the seattube as seen in the pic. There looks like a tiny crack on the seat tube as seen in pic. And the rear dropouts are not perfect also sen in pic.

LMK and if all these characteristics line up then I'm 100% it's 86 Taiwanese made Tri-moly Brian only the US and Japanese made frames from 86 were chromoly and as I'm sure your already fully aware of all of the 87 Performers were made in Taiwan as well and none of them were full Chro-mo.

If it's an S-Tube, it is 100% 4130. An 87 Performer would not be my choice to ride.

Haro Sport - Black (1989) 13. GT Aggressor - Chrome (1990) 14. PK Ripper - loop tail - Green (1990) 15. Wilkerson Airlines - Black (1991 or 92) 16.

Hey y'all this is a frame I got from Ebay a while back. I got it with 4-5 coats of paint on it. Some of it was spray paint but we also found some brushed-on paint toward the top. I tried to identify the frame at BMXmuseum.com and I found a lot of contradicting info. People claim to have green Performers from 1987 since new, but they all had 4 holes in the rear drop outs. Could this be a World Tour?

Next on the serial is '0892' this is easy to decode too, 08 means 8th month, which would be august. Then you have '92' next in the lineup, this would be 1992 the last 4 digits, are your build number, this one would be the 2,198th one built. Here is another example. If your serial is KGCG2297 this one gets a little complicated. But still easy once you learn the code to it. The first letter is who made the frame itself, in this case it would be 'Kenisis', an overseas company.this could be replaced by another letter but at least we know what that one is there for.

From the center of the fork tube to the center of the seat post is 19 in. And from brake mount to wheel mount is about 10.5 inches. On the fork the post measurement is about 7-1/2 inches AND IT'S 1 inch threaded. To start, if you have a 'baseball' looking stamp behind your serial, this frame was made overseas.no its not a pacific, so dont cry, or get mad.and lets continue. On this serial, the first number is the last digit of the year, so 6 stands for 1986 next is '03'.this is the third month.which is march. So you have a gt built in march of 1986. But still use the museum as a guide to id the frame, cause sometimes you can find the year, but getting a posotive id on the model isnt possible without knowing which style frame you have. This doesnt apply to new gt's, but hopefully some people with info on those will chime in. This isnt always going to match your serial, you may have a 'fake'.its not likely but it happens.

1986 Gt Performer For Sale

Not sure how true this is. But it would make sense. A member of a UK site had one of these and we didnt understand why he would have an 84 frameset with 4 holes in. When he showed us the pics of the bike before the resto it was a clearly a 86 spec bike.

-Haro Sport in 87. -Haro Team Sport 87, turquoise/black/chrome, bought with the ins $$$ from the stolen bike.

Go went under before printing the results of the contest, but Brad McDonald (Go photographer at the time) was nice enough to send it to me.

Some of it is cool and worth bragging about. And a lot may not be. Looking back there are probably bikes you wish you had had but didn't. Along the way I rode wack bikes and rad bikes.

'89 GT Pro Series race (briefly tried racing again) 8. '86 Haro Freestyler (weird bike but looked cool) 9. '92 GT Pro Freestyle Tour (classic - learned more flatland than any bike i've ever had) 10. '87 GT Pro Performer (flatland experiment) 11. '91 S&M Holmes (learned to ride miniramp and skatepark) 12.

And it would probably hold up under most riding conditions. Thanks for that R. If I do get this frame, it will be built as a rider but it won't be seeing any air time, purely for a little flatland, at best.

Not sure as to what model it was or if it was even sold as a complete bike or just a frame set. Up to 87, all the frames were made-in-the-USA Chromoly frames. The only difference was the level of parts they put on them. In 87, they came out with the S-Frames. All S-frames were 100% chromoly.

The only thing wrong with it is there are several dings in the backside of the forks. Luckily, they are mostly on the back so when the bike is built they are hardly noticeable. I see some of these 84-85 full chromoly frames listed with insanely high BIN prices. I'm going to let you guys decide what it's worth by starting it at 99 cents with no reserve. Early 80's santa ana ca, mid 80's moved to huntington beach ca,then early 90's moved back to santa ana ca. During all this they outsourced their mid to lower level bikes to a japanese factory in the mid 80's,then in late 80's they switched over to tawainese factory for the lower level bike making.

Why not try 26? Great decision) 26.

Also, common sense tells you that if you have a suspected 'gt' frame, look it up and compare it in the musuem, knowing which style frame you have will help with the process of id'ing your bike with the serial, especially if the serial has some damage that prevents you from getting the full number. Hopefully this bit of info can be used for everyone, and this will save you from those late nights sitting around waiting for a response to your post looking for an answer to the idendity to your gt.although i do feel smart and proud when i can answer these posts. Well, thats it for me, if anyone else has info on serials or if you see a mistake in this guide, tell me so i can edit it. Happy holidays people.

Beyond that there are a bunch. My current bikes are a green 85 Haro Master, a pink 88 GT performer, a mid 80s GT freestyle bike that I have never seen before, it has a large framestander section and a large GT 4130 sticker on the downtube. BITD my bikes were an 82 Thruster Tri Power, An 83 Haro Freestyler, A white 85 Hutch Trickstar, A green 85 Haro Master, and a bike I acquired from a brief sponsorship from Huffy in 1988, it was white and paint splash graphics on it. It was terrible I forget what it was called but it might still be in my moms basement.

Your correct. Just to make it a bit more interesting. The ones you see with 4 holes in rear drops and the FS and serial number stamped in drop out were 'apparently' 84 framesets that were left over by the US fabricators and then re-issued in 86 with the insertion of the extra hole to make them look ike 86 framesets.

'85/6 Pro Performer f/f/bars/post out for powder '87 (i think) Robinson, for powder Have had/ currently have MTBs too, but just listing the BMX for now. Mine is a relatively short list compared to some of the others.

I am considering starting a build of a Martin Aparijo 1986 replica based on a GT Performer frame. If it's the same frame as the Pro Performer, I can start working on on getting all the bits. I think you talked to a bunch of GT haters. Nothing wrong with GTs from that timeframe at all. I'd say they're very respected bikes and fairly sought after by lots of collectors. I did have a friend who cracked his 85 Pro Performer near the head tube, but I'm guessing you can find stories of any number of people cracking any number of different bikes in any number of different places.

Pro Performer 4130 BMX Frame only I picked this up last week at a estate sale last week not sure what year the numbers are wore off cant see them very good lots of paint it look like it may have been green originally as far as I can tell I just see a couple of dings maybe you can see them in the pictures. Next is the letter 'G'.this isnt always there, but if so, this is where it was assembled, (ever notice the built in usa sticker on your gt or dyno?) this is what that letter is there for. It wasnt made here, but was built here. Next is the letter 'C'.C is the 3rd letter in the alphabet, and march is the 3rd month, so march is the build month. Next is the letter 'G' this is the year. G is the 7th letter in the alphabet, so this would be a 1987. Here is one more.your serial resembles this:f6030578.

Here is an email I got from an actual employee of GT: If the bike frame was manufactured at the Santa Ana CA facility, the first three or four digits of the serial number should be letters abbreviating the model or size of the frame such as 'XL', 'XXL', CR24, or something like that. The next part of the serial number is eight numeric digits. The first four numbers should be a two digit month followed by a two digit year. The last four digits are the serialization digits 0000 to 9999 depending on what number the frame was of the years production. If the frame was made overseas in Taiwan, it gets more complicated. If the number starts with a K, the frame was made.

From the best of my recollection: 1) Some sort of 20' bike with non pneumatic hard rubber tires. I learned to ride on this bike and crashed super hard. Big scar on my forehead to this day. I was about 5 or 6 years old. 2) Year unknown Huffy? Don't remember the frame cracked when my parents friends son rode it. 3) Schwinn Stingray I took all the parts off the Huffy?

Thanks midohiofreestyler. Does 250 bucks for an 87 Taiwan GT Perofrmer frame and forks, rear frame standers, fork standers, GT DX pedals and a set of JB Handlebars sound like a good deal? The chrome on the F&F is apparently new. Will be swapping the bars for a set of Pro Performer bars. It sounds/looks like a good deal to me. Any advice appreciated. That sounds reasonable to me, as long as they are in decent shape.
