But i do not know what type of the Japanese engine they do put in. However, I saw some people that want to sell the Perdana with Alfa engine. Hopefully some people jere can verify here.

I had this problem before 2 times changing the gearbox. I got so frustrated then converted the engine with manual transmission.

I actually really like the design of the perdana v6, the previous one, not the one wit the alfa grill (i hate the alfa grill facelift). My auntie used 2 have one in silver (i prefer the silver than the black), n its really comfortable. Its quiet, spacious n 2 drive its quite nice. It feels torquey n smooth, but the steering's a bit too light. Overall a good car, except 4 the problematic gearbox that is. It also looks stunning in white.

I've always liked the look, both the Alfa'd version and the old one. I tend to like low sedans (another example would be the 5th gen Accord, R33 and R34 Skyline sedans). Most people I know or talked to who's driven the V6 version have no qualms about the engine. Except that it kinda lacks low-end torque but still better than a Campro.

I wouldn't recommend a Perdana even for long distance dricing since based on my personal experience, the gearing is a bit low. 3k rpm for 110km/h and FC's pretty bad for me. About RM40+ for KL-Melaka at 110km/h. However keep it at 100 km/h using cruise control possible to drop FC down to RM30/= for the same route (Checked 3 trips already). Besides that, there's a tendency to float at 120km/h and above.

Bodykit kereta ialah Eterna model klon Perdana. Sebenarnya, pakai bodykit apa pun pada kereta ini tak jadi masalah. Rupanya serupa itu juga saya rasa. Kalau berani, boleh pakaikan jenis widebody tapi kena buat betul-betullah, kalau tak nampak macam mengkarung. Agak susah nak cipta benda baru sebab sedan yang besar macam ni lebih selamat dengan sentuhan minimum saja.

The best I had archieved was the trip to Jb from Kl, full tank when I was in Kl, detour to Jpo, then Jb, topped up 35 litre petrol. I was using 97 RON though. I normally put in 97 RON when travels long distances, 95 RON on a normal days. I bought a late 2004 enhanced II version mid last year.

If you have enough money to get a brand new Perdana, I suggest you consider the Civic or Lancer instead. It's a better investment in the long run since they'll retain their value far better, plus they have lots of newer technology. 10km/l or 12km/l is better than my Wira GSR Turbo, only 9.5km/l.I think better I get Perdana la instead of driving small Wira GSR.Turbo more pick up? Who cares.?The most important thing is spacious, smooth engine, and sparepart available at kedai potong for Proton Perdana.
